Brand-new ARA Job Board available now

After months of beta testing with various American Rental Association (ARA) rental companies and trade schools, the brand-new ARA Job Board has moved from concept to reality. ARA rental store members can get on board with five free 90-day postings.

“We are so excited to be able to offer this important service to our members,” says Tom Doyle, ARA vice president, associate program development. “It all goes back to the focus that came out of the strategic plan. Workforce development is one of the five pillars ARA is focusing on to help the rental industry have a qualified workforce now and in the future. We are not just talking about workforce development for our members. We are putting human and financial resources toward accomplishing that goal, and the ARA Job Board is a great example of those efforts.”

Developed in association with YM Careers for strong integration on the backend, the new ARA Job Board is designed not only to increase awareness of the equipment and event rental industry but also to offer innovative ways of connecting employers with qualified candidates, says Keith Pearson, ARA human resources director.

The need for those connections is great. “At The ARA Show™ in Orlando, those in our industry were short 4,000 techs and about the same number of drivers. And then, of course, there were all of the openings for general labor as well. Even though COVID-19 has temporarily paused a lot of hiring, the need is still there. Those in our industry are still looking for ways to help promote rental and bring new employees into the industry. We feel the job board will significantly impact awareness and help bring qualified candidates into the industry — employees our members have been searching for,” Pearson says.

There are two facets of the ARA Job Board: one for employers and one for prospective employees. ARA rental store employers will be able to access it from the main ARA website, ARArental.org, using the same login they have for the ARA site. Prospective employees will find a link on ARArentalworks.com, ARA’s microsite that is specifically designed for those who want to find out more about rental as a career path. There also will be digital marketing running each month to drive job seekers directly to the job board.

There are unique features for both, making the job board more than the traditional model, says Dan Sharp, ARA senior marketing manager. “It isn’t just a site for posting. It is a resource for employers and employees in terms of career support, from the résumé-development coaching and the Rental Career Guide to job descriptions for both equipment and event rental operations. The goal is for the job board to be the traffic destination for all of our workforce development efforts.”

Plus, more posting packages are offered for those with additional jobs they would like to post. The ARA Job Board is always free to any job applicant.
