In advance of The ARA Show™, Iowa rental operators received the opportunity to touch, feel and demo equipment — while also receiving a refresher on silica dust standards — at the ARA of Iowa’s Demo Day & Educational Event on Oct. 2.
The event was hosted at Star Equipment’s location in Ames, Iowa, where equipment, including trenchers, stump grinders, pressure washers, concrete buggies, skid steers, air compressors, polishers, air tools and more were on display.
“The event was pulled together on short notice, but was very well received,” says Scott Thompson, branch manager, Star Equipment, Ames, Iowa, and an ARA of Iowa board member. “With rental stores being so short-handed right now, we thought we would try hosting it on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone was really happy with the turnout.”
In addition to the opportunity to lay hands on a diverse range of equipment, attendees heard from Randy Davis, district sales manager, Husqvarna Construction Products, who provided a refresher on staying in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) silica dust standards.
“There are some people out there who are not as deep into the silica dust standards, so it was nice to offer it for them while serving as a review for others who deal with it on a regular basis,” Thompson says.
