Caterpillar, Deerfield, Ill., earned $10 billion in sales and revenues during the 2020 second quarter, down 31 percent compared to $14.4 billion in the 2019 second quarter. The decline was due to lower sales volume driven by lower end-user demand and the impact from changes in dealer inventories, the company says. Dealers decreased machine and engine inventories about $1.4 billion during the second quarter of 2020, compared with an increase of about $500 million during the second quarter of 2019.
Terex Corp., Westport, Conn., earned net sales of $690.5 million during the 2020 second quarter, compared to $1.3 billion the year prior. During the first six months of 2020, the company reported $1.5 billion in net sales compared to $2.4 billion in 2019.
Toromont Industries, Toronto, earned $849.6 million in revenue during the 2020 second quarter, a 13 percent decrease compared to $978.3 million during the 2019 second quarter. During the first half of the year, revenues were $1.6 billion, down 7 percent compared to the $1.7 billion the year before.
