Kubota Engine America electronically-controlled diesel engine

Apr. 11, 2021

The D902-K from Kubota Engine America, Lincolnshire, Ill., is the company’s first electronically controlled diesel engine below 19kW. The three-cylinder, Tier 4 engine is equipped with a common rail system developed exclusively for small engines and comes with a new TVCR combustion system. The engine is compact and easy to mount, reducing the amount of black smoke to an undetectable level, the company says. The engine consumes 5 percent less fuel than its current conventional model. The engine is capable of communicating via the controller area network (CAN), which allows engine speed and torque to be controlled using signals from the vehicle and also can acquire engine operating data for telematics purposes.
