The ARA Show kicks off with a new day of education

Experience unique learning opportunities

The ARA Show™ 2023 — held Feb. 11-15 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando — will kick off with two new education experiences. On Saturday, Feb. 11, Future of Equipment Rental is designed for those in the equipment rental industry and EventsU (formerly Events & Tents) will focus on topics of interest to those in the event rental industry.

Both programs will offer rental-specific education sessions and networking opportunities. These are separate programs from The ARA Show with an additional registration fee — see ARAshow.org for details. To register, visit ARAshow.org.

 

Future of Equipment Rental

9-9:45 a.m.

Networking Breakfast

10-11 a.m.

“Keynote Session” presented by Dale Asplund, United Rentals; and Steve Jones, Dodge Construction Data & Analytics.

This session will focus on how equipment rental is reacting to changing markets and job sites — both now and in the future.

11 a.m.-Noon

“Contractor Panel”

Customers both large and small will describe what they expect from their rental companies and what the job site of the future looks like for them. This session will include a question and answer portion.

Noon-12:45 p.m.

Future of Equipment Rental Lunch

1-2 p.m.

“Rental Company Panel” presented by Sunbelt Rentals; Jeff Lignugaris, Northside Tool Rental; Steve Mau, Brainerd Rental; and Rob Wilson, Stephenson’s Rental Services.

Rental companies of various sizes will discuss how they are using technology to manage their business, improve operations and meet customer expectations. This session will include a question and answer  portion.

2:15-3 p.m.

“Rental Operations Breakout Session 1: The Future of the Construction Jobsite and the Impact on Rental” presented by Sara Feuling, Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM); and Bridget Wilson, Network Coverage.

Discover the 10 key forces transforming the construction industry, including business models shifting to subscription, connectivity leading to job-site transformation, a pathway toward autonomous machinery, and sensors improving efficiency and safety.

“Rental Fleet Breakout Session 1: Rental Fleet Management Panel” presented by Jake Adkins, Ahern Rentals; Brad Coverdale, Sunbelt Rentals; Wes Clark, Rocky Hill Equipment Rentals; and Rob Wilson, Stephenson’s Rental Services.

Rental companies and suppliers will present their perspectives on how rental companies will adapt their fleet to meet contractor and job-site needs in the future. Topics will include electrification, lifecycle management, fleet makeup and asset connectivity benefits.

3:15-4:15 p.m.

“Rental Operations Breakout Session 2: Future of Rental Operations Panel and Interactive Workshop” presented by Chad Wagner, A-1 Rent It; Kyle Clements, Quipli; Sara Feuling, AEM; and Josh Mosko, CES Power.

This panel will review the changes coming to construction job sites in more actionable detail. After the panel discussion, attendees will move to facilitated small-group discussions around key topics with the opportunity to discuss ideas, share best practices and network.

“Rental Fleet Breakout Session 2: Rental Fleet Management Workshop” presented by Brad Coverdale, Sunbelt Rentals; Rob Wilson, Stephenson’s Rental Services and Wes Clark, Rocky Hill Equipment Rentals.

This panel will provide key insights into modern fleet management practices and the benefits technology is bringing. Following the panel, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss ideas, share best practices and network in small group discussions, which will be facilitated around key topics focused on fleet management.

4:15-5 p.m.

Closing Cocktail Reception. Spend time with industry experts and peers after a day of learning.

7:30-9 a.m.

“Breakfast Keynote: Creating the Perfect Marriage Between Event Rental Companies and Event Planners” presented by Ivy Robinson.

Robinson, a cutting-edge event planner, will share how relationships between event rental companies and event planners have evolved. Robinson has designed one-of-a-kind experiences for clients like NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt Jr. and NFL coaching great Bill Cowher.

9:15-10:30 a.m.

“Drive More Profit with a Clear Brand Story” presented by Aleya Harris.

This former chef, catering owner and marketer will show you how to craft a brand story that will win over clients, increase revenue and solidify the longevity of your business.

“Oh Crap, Here Comes the Fire Marshal!” presented by Mike Holland, CERP, and Brian Richardson.

Tent rental industry pros will share their install nightmares from the field and discuss how to avoid costly errors.

“Move Your Event Rental Business Forward: Success Starts Today” presented by Maurisa Beaver.

Learn how to evaluate and grow an event rental business.

10:45 a.m.-Noon

“Ready! Set (The Table)! Go!” presented by Steve Kemble.

During this hands-on session, participants will form teams and get a box of mystery items to design the ultimate tablescape for Kemble to review.

“What If a Tent Rental Company Was Built Like a Tech Company?” presented by Bryan Bolt and Alex Kouzmanoff, CERP.

Tech companies like Google are ingenious, strategic and precise when it comes to business decisions. Tent industry experts will show you how to build your tent business the same way.

“Using Lean Methods to Create Efficient Warehouse Operations” presented by Mark Graban.

A lean methods expert will discuss transferable lessons from a range of industries, as well as common Lean tools to improve warehouse efficiency in sustainable ways.

12:15-1:30 p.m.

“Lunch Session: Stump the Event Sales Guru Alan Berg.”

Bring your most pressing sales and communication questions to this rapid-fire question-and-answer session.

1:45-3 p.m.

“Customer Service Culture: A Leadership Approach to Event Rental Revenue Generation” presented by Chuck Salem.

This session will focus on how to build a culture of service.

“From Initial Call to Tent Install (and Everything in Between!)” presented by Liz Davis, CERP, and Melani Kodikian, CERP.

Join MATRA board members and industry veterans for a discussion of best communication practices.

“Event Profitability: Are You Actually Making Money?” presented by Bick Jones.

Learn how job costing should be done from an industry expert who will share real event examples.

3:15-4:30 p.m.

“Don’t Be Like or Buy Like Everyone Else” presented by Ivy Robinson.

Learn tips and tricks to elevate your events, stay on budget and maximize inventory in this session focused on current and emerging trends.

“Stop Taking Orders and Start Selling for Profits!” presented by Alan Berg.

Learn how to inspire your sales team to up their game and see opportunities.

“Don’t End Up on the Evening News: Prevent Event Rental Safety Disasters” presented by Jamie Cox, Dan Farrell and Kevin Gern.

A panel of event rental experts discuss how accidents could have been avoided in actual events that resulted in personal injury and product loss.

4:30-6:30 p.m.

EventsU Reception

Stroll to the rooftop terrace outside the convention center for a relaxing evening surrounded by a top-of-the-line event rental atmosphere. Tickets are $100 per person.
