Maureen Wendelberger named ARA of Arizona president

Maureen Wendelberger, sales manager, Event Rents, Phoenix, recently stepped up to fill the role of president on the ARA of Arizona board.

Wendelberger brings a wide variety of rental experience to her new role. She started in the industry back in the early 1990s when she opened a small balloon store outside Toronto. Then she went to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, handled events in Japan and later landed in Los Angeles, where she worked for Classic Party Rentals for 15 years and next went to Boston to work for PEAK Event Services. She came to Phoenix after her husband, Patrick, who also works in the event industry, was hired by PRO EM National Event Services. Shortly thereafter, she joined Event Rents.

She also brings to the board her “love of the ARA [American Rental Association], my deep belief in the good ARA does and my desire to grow the ARA presence in our state,” she says.

Wendelberger plans to accomplish that by having the ARA of Arizona offer more opportunities for members to network, receive valuable education and safety information — chances for members to become more involved and see the benefits that participation can bring.

She has set out specific goals. “First, I want to help build our board, then grow our membership and have more meetings to get everyone involved. Involvement is a big piece. I want the ARA of Arizona to do things the state chapter has never done before — things that can benefit members, their employees and their businesses overall,” Wendelberger says.

Serving as president offers her the chance to give back to the industry she has built her career in while also offering ways to continue to learn and grow.

“Taking on this role allows me to give back while also working with great leaders from across the country and learning from them as well as discovering how we can let others know about our industry,” Wendelberger says. “I always talk about building better rental people and growing from the bottom up. As president I can help do that. For instance, at the ARA Leadership Conference I was able to talk with other rental leaders. I also learned about the scholarships and going to colleges and universities to spread the word not only about the scholarships but also about what we do. This is exciting — professionally rewarding and personally satisfying.”
