ARA of Kentucky education and tabletop offered insights and valuable connections

Previewing the latest equipment, gaining insight on topics important to one’s business and making connections with those in the industry — all were available at the ARA of Kentucky education and tabletop show that took place Jan. 25 at Bryant’s Rent-All, Lexington, Ky.

Attendees had the opportunity to learn strategies for improving their businesses and ensuring appropriate insurance coverage, network with rental friends and chat one-on-one with vendors while enjoying appetizers, dinner and drinks.

Pete Bottom, owner, Job Master Rental, Danville, Ky., and ARA of Kentucky board member, has been attending this event for years because he receives so much value from it.

“Every time I have gone to the education and tabletop show, I found out something I didn’t know about. I’ve always learned something new and always something that will help my business. It was the same this year,” he says.

But it is more than just the education or the equipment that draws Kentucky members to this event. The value also comes from connecting with others in the industry, Bottom notes. “The rental industry is like a family. We look at rental stores that are close to us as competitors, but we pull together for each other. It’s not just the rental store operators either. It’s also the vendors. I have some vendors whom I have known for 30 years. They are more than just salespeople.”

That was especially true this year after what many in the state experienced from the devastating tornadoes that hit western Kentucky in December. “Anytime something like that happens, it reminds you how fragile life is,” Bottom says, adding that seeing everyone gather at January’s event was a reminder “it is not all about business or making money. There is more to it.”
