The ARA of Maine beat the holiday rush and hosted its pre-Thanksgiving “Holiday Party & Cybersecurity Presentation” event on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
The event, held at restaurant and gaming venue 33 Elmwood, Westbrook, Maine, featured dinner and friendly competition through games like bocce, bowling and cornhole.
Business education was on the agenda, too, as a representative from the University of Southern Maine Cybersecurity Ambassadors was on hand to share best practices to keep businesses safe, techniques to reduce risks and methods of response in the event of a breach.
“It was a fun event and everyone had a really good time,” says Elizabeth Lurvey, office manager, Mainely Events, Biddeford, Maine, who also serves as ARA of Maine president. “It was only the second ARA of Maine event I have been to because we have just started meeting again — this was our first in-person event since 2019. It was fantastic being able to see familiar and new faces, and there was a nice turnout. This was a chance for everybody to catch up because they hadn’t seen each other for a really long time.”
