Jonathan Sweeney, president, DLTC Equipment & Supply, Bridgeport, Conn., has joined the ARA of Connecticut board of directors.
Although DLTC Equipment & Supply is a relatively new outdoor power equipment sales and rental endeavor for Sweeney, he has been in the lawn and tree care business since 1983, when he started Darien Lawn & Tree Care as a high schooler.
The entrepreneurial Sweeney also operates Athletic Field Services — an enterprise that he founded in 2000 to build athletic fields — and he created a partnership to establish Valley Green, a fertilizer and seed company.
Sweeney, who holds an associate of science in horticulture, is a licensed arborist and turf manager. He enjoys his lifelong hobby of racing motorcycles and sports cars. Sweeney has volunteered as a ski racing coach for 10 seasons and currently serves on the board of directors of the Lime Rock Park Special Projects Team.
Sweeney has acted as director and president for the Connecticut Ground Keepers Association and ran its annual trade show for five years. He has received several championship racing trophies and performance-based business achievement awards.
In his new role with the ARA of Connecticut’s leadership team, Sweeney looks forward to helping provide valuable networking and educational opportunities for American Rental Association (ARA) members in the state.
