ARA of California event hit all the marks

The ARA of California’s April 5 event offered something for everyone — valuable training on Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, excitement on the basketball court and plenty of networking, food and beverages enjoyed in a luxury suite.

“At our board meeting we had talked about having an educational event to go over DOT requirements and regulations because this is a topic that impacts all of us, no matter whether we are in event or equipment rental. We also wanted to get together socially, so we decided to combine the two, which turned out to be a great duo,” says Jared Medaris, CERP, president, Expo Party Rentals, Fresno, Calif., and ARA of California president.

The event kicked off in the press conference room at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. Kristi McNabb, officer with the California Highway Patrol, discussed the latest DOT regulations, with plenty of time for Q&A. Members were able to ask questions on everything from the proper way to tie down equipment to updates on regulations.

After the training, attendees headed to the arena’s luxury suite to see the Sacramento Kings take on the New Orleans Pelicans. Besides the excitement on the court, participants enjoyed plenty of networking while taking advantage of delicious food and an open bar, thanks to ARA Insurance and ARA Insurance agency Robert Bell Insurance Brokers.

“It was so wonderful to be together again. Everyone learned a lot from the DOT presentation and was able to bring important information back to their businesses. Then we had a great time watching the game — the first time the ARA of California has offered a basketball event. Being in a suite provided a great viewpoint and relaxed atmosphere to make connections. We are so grateful to ARA Insurance and ARA Insurance Preferred Agent Michael Bell for their support and willingness to be there to answer questions that members had. In addition, James Auerbach, ARA’s vice president, event segment, joined us. It was great to talk with him and learn even more about all the resources ARA offers all of us. A lot of credit also goes to all of our board members. Everyone worked together to make this event a success for our members, which was super,” Medaris says.
