Course Overview

The Professional Driver Education Program is new and improved! This online certificate program is specifically designed for equipment rental drivers. Participants will work through three engaging modules that allow them to experience "a day in the life of a professional driver.” Topics in the program include proper loading, load securement, and defensive driving for various types of vehicles and trailers. It will also provide an overview of federal, state, and province rules and regulations for commercial drivers.

    Log on to RentalU and select the ARA Certified programs button. Click on the PDEP course and complete the checkout process. You do not need a PayPal account to complete the transaction. Individual licenses must be purchased and assigned to individuals in RentalU.

  • How long does it take to complete?

    The course consists of three different modules that are approximately two hours each. Each section has a quiz, and there is an overall comprehensive exam that requires an 80% or higher to pass.

  • Do you have to renew your certificate?

    The Professional Driver Education Program is a certificate program. There are no renewal requirements for PDEP, but individuals can take the course again as a refresher.

    • Professional Driver Education Program: Module 1 - The Professional Driver: Discusses pre-checking the delivery vehicle, proper loading, unloading and load securement, customer service and safety.
    • Professional Driver Education Program: Module 2 - The Drive: Discusses classes of vehicles and license, customer service, safety, and defensive driving for various types of vehicles and trailers. It will also provide an overview of federal, state, and province rules and regulations for commercial drivers.
    • Professional Driver Education Program: Module 3 - Customer Site: Discusses customer service and safety, unloading, familiarization, pickups and end of day routines.
