Lind Equipment wins Norwegian military contract

Aug. 09, 2020

Lind Equipment, Markham, Ontario, Canada, has been awarded a contract to supply the Norwegian military with its patented Expedition Tactical Lighting System (ETLS). The contract allows Norway to standardize its shelter lighting on Lind Equipment’s ETLS, providing troops with a state-of-the-art system to assist them in deployment anywhere, the company says.

Lind Equipment’s ETLS also is currently deployed in the field for divisions of the Canadian Armed Forces and the U.S. Armed Forces. The ETLS provides clear LED lighting that includes an EMI hardened, waterproof, centrally controllable system.

In addition to these requirements, the Norwegian Forsvaret was in search of a shelter light that had an emergency lighting mode that would last 15 minutes after power was cut. Like many other armed forces, the Forsvaret did not want this emergency lighting mode to use conventional batteries that require replacement and maintenance. Lind Equipment’s ETLS system has a patented emergency mode that will continue to provide light for shelters for up to 15 minutes using advanced supercapacitors. This system charges and holds power without using any toxic chemicals commonly found in batteries and is consider to be more a reliable system with a larger power storage than a traditional backup battery.

“This contract allowed us to do what we do best, innovate. The Expedition Tactical Lighting System was made with military needs at the front of our design criteria,” said Sean Van Doorselaer, CEO, Lind Equipment. “With our creative design team, we can produce better lighting solutions for our clients, whether military, construction or general industry.”
