When should I submit my qualifying points? Start filling out the qualifying point's sheet as soon as you receive
it. You will want to be aware of opportunities to earn additional points as
they arise. As soon as you have accumulated 25 points, submit your sheet.
What kinds of activities will earn points? You earn points for a variety of things: volunteerism within the
industry; community service, such as being a Girl/Boy Scout leader; each
year of rental experience; the number of years your company has been an ARA
member; and ongoing education, such as taking a business class and reading
books and viewing videos from the
ARA
Lending Library.
When should I complete the CERP essay? You can complete the essay at any time -- the sooner the better. There
are two questions: one for owners and managers and one for employees.
How long does the CERP essay have to be? The essay should be approximately two double-spaced pages (500-700
words) long.
I want to know more about the questions I missed before I retake the
exam? You will receive a letter indicating the sections you need to study in
order to correctly answer the questions you missed. Keep in mind that many
of the questions are taken verbatim from the text, so you really do need to
review your course materials before retaking the exam.
Is there a penalty for failing the exam? No. You may retake the exam as many times as needed.
How long do I have to complete the certification process? You have 36 months to complete the course. You must complete and pass
one exam in each 12-month period to remain in the program. You may re-enter
the program for a $100 reinstatement fee, at which time you will be given a
new extension of 36 months.
If I purchased the ERTC books, can I convert to the CERP program? Yes. If you keep the same books, you can obtain a credit of $99 for up

If my employee quits or does not complete the program, can I transfer
the course to another employee? Yes, you can transfer the course to another employee for a $25 fee.
Where do I go to take the exams? You can arrange to take the exams at your local college, community
college or learning center. There are also opportunities to take exams at
ARA-sponsored events such as The Rental Show.
