The Certified Event Rental Professional (CERP) program is designed to
identify a level of expertise and skills that will maximize your learning and
aid you in developing a level of professionalism in the industry. As a result,
each course offered in the certification program has a 50-question exam. The
exam designated for the discipline you select must be passed prior to applying
for graduation.
Locations for Exams:
You may take your exams at either an ARA-sanctioned function such as The
Rental Show or at an educational institution in your area. Following are
directions for each option:
ARA-sanctioned events:
Contact Chris Adamson at 800/334-2177, ext. 277, and provide her with
your name and the course examination(s) you wish to take at the specified
event.
On the day of the examination, you will need to bring a photo ID and
your completed learning exercises for the exam(s) you wish to take. If you
do not have both materials, you will not be able to take the exam.
After you take your exam, please allow five to seven business days for
the grading of your exam(s). Exam results will be sent by mail and will not
be provided over the phone or by e-mail.
Local educational institutions:
Contact a local educational institution such as your local college or
community college and ask for the continuing education department or
professional development department (depending on the school). For some
schools, they may have neither; if this is the case, ask for the education
department.
Explain to them that you are in a certification program for an
association and are looking to see if they can proctor the exam for you.
Write down towhom the exam should be sent, along with his or her mailing
address and telephone number. The school may charge you a fee, so please
inquire.

your name, the exam(s) you wish to take and the place where the exams are to
be sent. Upon verification of the information, ARA will send the
examination(s) to the location specified and notify you by phone and or
e-mail that the examinations have been sent.
On the day of your examinations, you will need to bring a photo ID and
your completed learning exercises for the course examinations you wish to
take. The proctor will be notified that if you fail to bring both of these
items, you will not be allowed to take the exam, and that you will need to
contact ARA to reschedule. You will have two weeks from the date the exam is
sent out to take the examination. If you miss your scheduled date, please
contact ARA immediately to reschedule your exam.
After you take your exam, please allow five to seven business days for
the grading of your exam(s). Exam results will be sent by mail and will not
be provided over the phone or by e-mail.
Exam Grading:
A passing grade for all examinations is 80%.
If you pass your exam(s), you will be notified by mail and asked to fill out the

Discipline Selection Sheet so that another course can be sent to you.
If you do not pass your exam(s), you will receive notification identifying the
areas to review. You must wait a minimum of 30 days from the exam date before
