Program Description

The Certified Event Rental Professional (CERP) certification program is a self-study, self-paced workbook program that is structured to maximize learning in the party and event rental industry. The program is designed to provide participants with the level of professionalism that will aid and identify you as an expert in your field. Download CERP informational brochure.

Earning the CERP designation is a three step process:

1. Complete and pass three disciplines.
There are eight disciplines to choose from, including the mandatory Foundations of the Party and Event Rental Industry. You'll need to complete three disciplines and pass the examination for each discipline selected. A passing grade for an exam is 80%.

2. Complete an essay assignment.
There are two essay questions to choose from: one for owners/managers and one for employees. The essay assignment is designed to gather your ideas based on your knowledge gained through the CERP program and learned from your experience in the rental industry.

3. Accumulate a minimum of 25 qualifying points.
Your experience in the rental industry counts! You will be amazed at how easily you'll accrue points from professional industry activity, attending Events &Tents, continuing education and even reading books and reviewing videos from ARA's Lending Library.

You have 36 months to complete the certification requirements.
Upon registration for the CERP program, you have 36 months to complete the disciplines, exams, points and essay. You are required to complete one discipline and pass one exam during a 12-month period to stay in the program. Failure to complete the three courses, essay, points and pass the exams within the 36-month time limit will result in removal from the program. However, a participant may re-enter the program for a $100 reinstatement fee, upon payment of which that person will be given an extension of 36 months.

Length of Certification:
Your CERP certification lasts for five years. At that time, you can submit an application for recertification by accumulating points through your continuing education and service in the party and event rental industry.
