A group of volunteers gathered together to found the American Rental Association in 1955, and volunteers continue to be the lifeblood of the association today.
Each year ARA recognizes a variety of individuals for their outstanding volunteer service to the association and the rental industry with awards, traditionally presented during The Rental Show. Included in ARA’s awards program are the Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service, Special Service and Outstanding Leadership Awards, as well as Regional Persons of the Year for each region. President’s Image Awards and the ARA Insurance Services/NER Award also are presented.

The rental industry has grown and prospered from the service of many leaders during the past 50-plus years. The American Rental Association created the Rental Hall of Fame in 2000 to foster an appreciation of the historical development of the rental industry and the leaders who’ve made the industry what it is today.
Each year, nominations are accepted to recognize individuals who have made a substantial impact on the industry at the national or international level. Any individual associated with the equipment rental industry whose significant contribution changed the industry in a positive manner is eligible for consideration.
